What You Should Prepare
- A passport photo that meets the published Passport Office requirements.
- Your identity and citizenship documents as required by the Passport Office.
- Your National Insurance Number evidence if requested as part of the passport application.
- A separate application for each person who is applying.
The Passport Rules also state that the applicant must appear in person where required by the relevant Passport and Visa Officer, Administrator, or Bahamian diplomatic or consular officer.
Passport Photo Requirements
- The photo should be no more than six months old.
- The photo should be 2 x 2 inches at 600 dpi.
- The photo should be in colour on a plain white or off-white background.
- No selfies.
- The applicant should face the camera directly with a neutral expression and closed mouth.
- Hairline and ears should be visible.
- Head covering is not allowed unless it is for medical or religious reasons and has been approved by the Passport Office.
- Clothing should cover the shoulders and should not display military or civil-service badges or ornaments.

- Use the photo-check step before you apply if you are unsure whether your image is acceptable.
- Start the passport-renewal application.
- Save your work if you need to return later and resume with your saved file.
- Track your application with your 9-digit application number.
- If the Passport Office asks for more information, use the portal to submit documents, upload a new photo, or pay fees.
