The Department of Immigration says non-Bahamians who are already authorized to work in The Bahamas for more than 90 days may renew that authorization through the annual work permit renewal process.
Main Requirements

BSD $200.00non-refundable processing fee - Letter of request addressed to the Director of Immigration
- Renewal or extension application form
- Original medical certificate dated within 30 days before submission
- Original police certificate issued within six months and covering five years of residence for applicants age 14 and older
- Two current passport photographs
- Applicant passport bio page copy
- Employer or sponsor passport bio page copy
- Letter from the National Insurance Board confirming that contributions are up to date
- Copy of the applicant's previous work permit
- Employer or sponsor National Insurance Card copy for single employers
- Certificate of Good Standing for the Port Authority in Grand Bahama, where applicable
- Valid business licence, certificate of incumbency, or certificate of incorporation for the employer or sponsor
Important Official Notes
- Accompanying dependents should apply for Permit to Reside.
- The Department says labour certificates and newspaper advertisements remain important to the renewal process.
- Effective
September 1, 2025, Immigration Fee Scale 8 annual work permit applications must include a Labour Certificate for new permits and renewals, and every two years thereafter. - Foreign documents need certified English translations with the required postage stamp.
