Permit To Reside Renewal

Summary

The Department of Immigration says Permit to Reside renewals require a formal renewal application and a BSD $200.00 non-refundable processing fee.

The Department's online portal FAQ also says permit renewals can be processed online when the applicant qualifies to use the portal.

Main Requirements

  • Letter of request addressed to the Director of Immigration
  • BSD $200.00 non-refundable processing fee
  • Completed renewal or extension form
  • Original medical certificate dated no earlier than 30 days before submission
  • Original police certificate issued no earlier than six months before submission and covering five years of residence for applicants age 14 and older
  • Two current passport photographs
  • Valid readable copy of the applicant's passport
  • Valid readable copy of the parent or guardian passport where applicable
  • For students: most recent school letter, transcript, and report cards

Important Official Notes

  • Accompanying dependents must apply for their own Permit to Reside.
  • Certified English translations are required for foreign documents, with the postage-stamp treatment the Department describes.

Online Renewal Notes

The online portal FAQ says applicants who qualify for online renewal should expect to:

  • complete the application form online
  • upload an acceptable digital photo
  • upload supporting documents as PDF files
  • pay the processing fee by credit card
  • pay the document fees later if the application is approved

The same FAQ says a previous Permit to Reside application without an employer may still be renewed online if the renewal will also be without an employer.

When To Escalate To A Human

  • You are changing the basic basis of stay rather than simply renewing.
  • You cannot supply the medical, police, passport, or school documents required.
  • Your prior status was a first-instance case or otherwise falls outside normal online renewal.
  • The portal says your application cannot be processed online.
