Summary

The Department of Immigration says an extension on a visitor's stay may be granted to applicants who qualify. The official page also says the process does not replace the usual requirement for an in-person interview with the extension officer.

Fee

The Department says there is a BSD $200.00 non-refundable processing fee for extension-of-stay applications, effective September 18, 2024.

  • Proof of payment by credit or debit card, bank draft, or Bahamas Postal Money Order
  • Return ticket or temporary cruising permit
  • Valid passport
  • Local address
  • Immigration landing card
  • Reason for the extension request
  • Evidence of Bahamian visa, if applicable
  • Valid email address
  • Mobile telephone number
  • Sponsor's passport and address

The Department warns that failure to provide the required documents may result in the application being denied.

How To Apply

  1. Gather the required documents and payment.
  2. Decide whether you will use walk-in service or an appointment.
  3. For New Providence and Grand Bahama, use the published online appointment system if you want an appointment.
  4. For the Family Islands, contact the local Immigration Office. Where there is no Immigration Office, the official page says help may be available through Bahamas Customs and Excise or the Family Island Administrator.
