Summary
The Road Traffic Department facilitates the annual renewal of motor vehicle registration and inspection for standard vehicle licence discs that have expired or are approaching expiration.
Supporting Documents Required
- Original proof-of-age document: passport, voter's card, or birth certificate
- National Insurance Board smart card
- Valid insurance certificate or cover note
- Driver's licence
Renewal Process
- Present the vehicle at the nearest Road Traffic Department office in New Providence or the Family Islands.
- In Bimini/Cat Cay, Harbour Island, and Spanish Wells, the Administrator's Office acts on behalf of RTD.
- Give the inspector the required supporting documents.
- The inspector verifies the documents and inspects the vehicle.
- If the vehicle passes, the owner receives an Inspection Certificate of Fitness form to take to the cashier.
- After payment, the cashier issues the renewed vehicle licence disc.
Due Date
Vehicle registration and inspection expire on the last day of the vehicle owner's birth month.

- The ownership details do not match the documents you brought.
- You are renewing a public-service or specialty vehicle category with different requirements.
- You need help with title transfer, lost plates, or another service that is not a standard annual renewal.
